Middle East Commodities magazine was my grand introduction to the world of publishing, which I lead with great zeal and responsibility. From design to content, from branding to advertising, from printing to distribution, from a promising start to a niche product, I was involved in every department and at every stage as a stakeholder.

Initially the project was aimed to be a technical report on trading options & avenues for the existing clients and stakeholders of my principal client, ME Merchants (Dubai). But with the support and sponsorship of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, within no time MEC became a full-fledged publication that catered to a wider market.

Unfortunately, by the time MEC could spread its wings fully and rise to its peak, the great recession of 2008 began to tunnel its vision, which ultimately repressed its growing success. Besides the point, MEC was a great attempt and an excellent teamwork. Only if the markets would have been favourable, MEC would have had a phenomenal growth — both horizontally and vertically, and would have been a pioneer in the global multi commodity industry.
